Webinar - How to turn ship propulsion sensor data into profit
June 3, 2020In the first VAF Insights Live webinar, Erik van Ballegooijen discussed the several complexity levels on which ship propulsion performance monitoring can be applied. Automatic Ship Propulsion Performance monitoring is providing benefits in various areas such as, fuel savings, cost reductions, compliance to regulations, reduction of emissions, reporting, insights, etcetera.
Once the sensor data from the vessel has been collected and send to shore, the data needs to be converted to propulsion performance insights and actions, in order to turn it into a profit. After the successful first webinar, R&D Director Erik van Ballegooijen hosted a sequel on Tuesday June 23rd on "How to turn ship propulsion sensor data into profit". For this 30 minute webinar, Erik van Ballegooijen invited two co-hosts, Robert Kraaijeveld (Software Developer R&D) and Petra Stoltenkamp (Senior R&D Engineer). During this 30 minute webinar they discussed how to bridge the gap between sensor data and valuable propulsion performance insights and actions. The various levels of data analysis are discussed and shown in VAF's data analysis solution, IVY. Starting with just plotting the time trace of the individual sensors and comparing them to each other. Followed by the added value of transferring this sensor data into KPI’s. In view of compliance all this data and KPI’s can also be used to automatically generate all kind of reports like voyage-, noon-, EU-MRV, and IMO-DCS reports. Finally the added value of enriching the data is shown, which allows for in depth trending of for instance hull and propeller performance, SFOC, etc.
The recording of the webinar is available now, watch it here.
