The Journey of Operational Ship Propulsion Performance Improvements
May 1, 2020Automatic Ship Propulsion Performance monitoring is providing benefits in various areas like fuel savings, cost reductions, compliance to regulations, reduction of emissions, reporting, insights, etcetera. There are several complexity levels on how ship propulsion performance monitoring can be applied. It can start with limited sensors and data visualisation on board, towards incorporation of numerous sensors, advanced data analysis and visualisations both on board and at the office.
April 23rd, we hosted the first VAF Insights Live webinar. In this 30 minutes webinar VAF's expert and R&D director Erik van Ballegooijen discussed these various levels of automatic ship propulsion performance monitoring, the individual benefits these provide, and how you can grow towards the higher levels. Supported by the discussion of actual field experience data on ship propulsion performance monitoring for various vessel types. Finally conclusions are made with our lessons learned on ship propulsion performance in practice and additional questions by the audience are answered. The sequel to this first webinar is titled: "How to turn ship propulsion sensor data into profit".
