Are you seeking a role that involves managing, driving, and delivering growth in the marine measurement systems market, in alignment with our strategic direction? The Area Manager reports to the Managing Director.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day ‘sales’ workflow of the area. Ensure tenders are identified as early as possible and are delivered on time, to budget and to specification.
- Maintain an overview of products and clients, regularly reviewing sales funnels and opportunity plans.
- Ensure the primary business pitch is promoted to the fleet managers, asset managers and sustainable officers of the shipping companies. Current topic is the transition of selling all-in solutions (software, digital and subscriptions) with a strong focus on sustainability.
- Strengthen long-term relationships with existing customers and partners. Negotiating with clients regarding financial conditions, delivery times and other relevant conditions that leads to pricing excellence: play-the-game!
- Build relationships with new customers and target groups. Identify current and future needs of customers that relates to our strategy. The customer develops together with you into a key account!
- Stay updated on industry-wide developments, translating them into business needs, and identifying market trends, opportunities, and threats.
- You are sales budget responsible. You draw up your own sales budgets per region and customer group.

Candidate Profile
We’re looking for a skilled commercial professional who naturally applies intelligent commercial creativity in business dealings. The right candidate possesses excellent social and communication skills, establishes new contacts, and excels in negotiation to achieve results. They prioritize trust-building through honesty and ethical conduct while balancing short- and long-term results in client relations. Technical knowledge relevant to selling projects in the maritime industry (shipowners/yards) is a must.
The ideal candidate is a results-oriented self-starter with a can-do mentality, flexible and tactful, and embraces cooperative teamwork and participative thinking. They are structured thinkers with an action-oriented mindset and a hands-on, down-to-earth approach.

Qualifications
- Education: HBO degree in Business and/or a broadly related Technical discipline.
- Experience: Business-to-business expertise, with expertise in the maritime segment as a plus. A minimum of 4 years of international commercial experience.
- Skills: Excellent communication skills.
- Travel: Ability and willingness to travel internationally.
- Languages: Fluent in Dutch and English, both verbal and written.
